Don’t start classes till the afternoon? Have a free day? There are so many day trips accessible by train from Rome, below I will highlight my top 3!
Anzio:
In need of a beach day? Anzio is a relaxing destination many locals visit, and quick 56 minute train ride from Termini Station. Once at the beach, there are picturesque chairs and umbrellas for rent, and clean water to take a refreshing dip. From take away food to enjoy at your chair, to a beach front dining experience, Anzio is sure to provide you with delightful and authentic cuisine.
Castel Gandolfo:
Have you ever wondered where the Pope resides in summer? Castel Gandolfo, just a quick 44 minute train ride from Termini Station! This lively town is located in the Alban Hills, overlooking Lake Albano. Lake Albano is a volcanic crater lake with beautiful beachside access and even the option to kayak or swim.
Ostia Antica:
Wanting to reconnect with nature? Equestrians in Italy offers a special day excursion spent at their horse sanctuary in Ostia Antica. Spend the morning on the ranch learning about and caring for the horses of Ostia Antica, and end with a trail ride! This was a great experience and suitable for all animal lovers – can be found on Get Your Guide.
TIP: Termini Station can be easily accessed by taking the train from Trastevere Station, the H Bus, or taxi.
