We handed over our Instagram to a few students this month and asked them to take us through their day in their host city. This is Layah’s day in Rome (March 16, 2016).
Ciao! My name is Layah and I’m a Junior at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA studying abroad at JCU in Rome! Today I’ll be sharing my normal Wednesday with you in this “bella città” :)
Before my morning class I usually grab a caffè e latte from the local bar. Best coffee I’ve ever had!
Most days I make at least one meal in my apartment-this is my brunch today (Zucchini Tomato omelette) made at home with fresh ingredients!
Stopping to take in the view while crossing the Tiber river. Picked up some gelato (seriously the best gelato I’ve had so far) at Gelateria Del Teatro on my way to the tram!
After gelato, I head over to this church. It is really special to me and I come here often. It’s called La Basilica di San Crisogono in Trastevere. It was one of my first finds when I went adventuring in the neighborhood early in the semester. I like to come and journal, or just have a moments rest in this beautiful place and forget about my to-do list for a while.
Today I’m reading on the great steps beside my apartment. It’s one of my favorite places to be; part of the city but also separated from the loud and bustling streets. The plants and flowers are fragrant and the pace is slow. Rome has so many great paths and chill spots to hang out!
Rome has a great street music scene and this guy was jamming on Via Del Corso!
Walking home after class through Piazza Trilussa then grabbing pizza to go from La Renella! This piazza is known as a meet-up spot for all the young locals especially on the weekends but tonight has a more relaxed vibe. Nothing like a cool night walk and pizza in your hand to finish off the day!
Thanks for tagging along with me in Rome today! It’s been fun sharing a little bit of my host city 🇭🇺😊 these are a couple photos I took today while exploring the picturesque paths behind my neighborhood! Never stop wandering! Until next time! -Layah “Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing the lawn. Climb that dang mountain.” -Jack Kerouac
