Fashion Loves You (FLY) is a boutique inside the school of Fashion and Accessory Studies and Technology (FAST) at FUA. It is a vintage store that also sells emerging designers’ work as well as students’ work. The latest FLY Event featured BeGiuls, an emerging fashion designer located in Florence, a live photo shoot, a gourmet aperitivo and a special exhibition of the garments created in Florence University of the Arts’ Apparel Design class. The event was very “Pucci”, as not only the garments were inspired by the Florentine fashion designer but it was the theme of the party as well. The visual merchandising students also participated in the event by decorating the court yard and classrooms and displaying BeGiul’s newest collection which was being sold on a discount for FUA students and staff.
The launch party was very special for me, because I was one of the Apparel Design students whose design was displayed and not only was participating in FLY event a part of my grade, but I learned a lot from the experience. I worked very hard on my design and I was blown away by the amount of compliments that I received. Presenting a finished garment has always been one of my favorite feelings and me and my classmates were very happy that we got to showcase our first designs in Italy!
I was also one of the Fashion Photography students so I got to do a live photo shoot with a model wearing BeGiul’s new collection. The live photo shoot was also a lot of fun as photography is one of my passions. My theme was “A Designer in Distress”, because that is how I was feeling up to that point. Most of the props used in the photo shoot belonged to FAST’s Tailoring Lab, students or professors so that added to my inspiration and the feeling of designing. Below are some of the pictures that I took during my photo shoot session!
Don’t Miss out on the next FLY event! It is a great way to mingle and meet classmates, professors and professionals in Florence. It’s always fun with nothing but good vibes!
