I am studying at the American University of Paris this semester. The campus is right in the middle of Paris. Surrounded my iconic landmarks and cafes. I truly like my classes and my professors. I am taking some interesting classes this semester including Human Right Law and Comparative Politics, but I think the most interesting class I am taking is called “Introduction to Art through Paris museums”. It is a great way to discover Paris while getting class credit.
We meet every Wednesday at a different museum. Most of the times we meet at big museums but also visit private collections. Also, my professor is AMAZING; she studied at the Sorbonne and she is very eloquent. You are guaranteed NOT to get bored during this art history class. She loves to talk about interesting facts (and some conspiracy theories) along with the class “lectures”. Plus, she knows the Louvre very well, so even if you have already been to the Louvre, you WILL discover new rooms you have never been to (along with about a thousand interesting facts about the Louvre).
I also find fascinating how we can be reading about art from a certain epoch in our class textbook and the next day we are having a lecture in front of the most iconic art pieces of that time. We get to see the sculptures and paintings up close, not only in pictures. It really makes art come to life.
This is a learning experience I will never forget. After all, what better way to learn art history than through Paris museums?!
