When exploring a new city, I have always sought out restaurants with outdoor- seating or rooftops. I love sitting outside enjoying a refreshing drink while enjoying the breathtaking views and local ambiance. After living in Barcelona for 2 years, nothing beats a sunny afternoon with friends sitting on a gorgeous rooftop. It is the lovely way to spend the weekend after a stressful week; it is one of the best parts about Barcelona. In the midst of all the bustling neighborhoods and many historical sights to see, Barcelonian rooftops are the best escapes. For me, it’s the epitome of summertime in Barcelona. This Catalonan city is known for its rich culture, artistic architecture, and lively streets; rooftops allow you to appreciate all of this from a different perspective. Whether you are studying here, visiting friends or solo traveling, don’t miss the chance to experience at least one. Here are my 6 top rooftops picks that you should visit while visiting Barcelona!

Rooftop of Hotel Colon!

Hotel Colon Rooftop
My first pick is Hotel Colon Rooftop! Located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the Hotel Colon Rooftop has a mesmerizing backdrop of the Gothic Cathedral. It’s the perfect spot to strike a pose, take a selfie and have an unbeatable Barcelona Instagram moment. While my older sister visited me, it was the first place I took her! It’s the best combination of somewhere cool and trendy with historical surroundings. For those interested in a less busy visit, late afternoons usually have shorter lines and a more relaxed vibe to soak in the beauty of the historical district of Barcelona. Grab your phone, strike a pose, and let’s make some Instagram magic!

High above Plaza Catalunya, Sky Bar Hotel provides exceptional views of Barcelona’s skyline. Sip on a delicious drink as you people-watch tourists in the plaza and busy shoppers scurrying by down below. It’s the perfect place to impress your parents while also letting them pick up the tab :). It is definitely worth the visit and should be added to your Study Abroad to do list!

Terraza Miramar
If you’re like me and appreciate something cheap and cheerful, look no further. Terraza Miramar on Montjuic offers a budget friendly option with beautiful scenery. Overlooking the city and the coastline, this hidden gem on Montjuic perfectly located next to the funicular. Nibble on patatas bravas and watch boats cruise by while Barcelona buzzes below. This one is a must see!

Centrally located in the Gothic Quarter and on one of the most popular shopping streets, Cercle is a beautiful rooftop terrace you cannot miss out on. After a long day of shopping at Zara and Mango, rest those tired feet and sip on a nice Aperol Spritz at Cercle; you deserve it!

Terraza Verbena
Last but not least, Terraza Verbena! A rooftop well-deserved to be on my list. This beauty offers panoramic views of the Passeig de Gracia, while beautifully decorated with greenery and fairy lights. With its inviting ambiance and scenic vistas, the Terraza Verbena Rooftop is an ideal spot for brunch with the gals or a cheeky late night drink. The greenery and plants allow you to escape from Barcelona life, even just for an hour or so. A great escape for someone in the middle of exam week and desperate for a break. They also serve a delicious brunch during the weekend! For my birthday, my friends and I treated ourselves to an unforgettable experience. The servers pampered us with complementary dishes and attentive service; an added bonus on my birthday!
