It’s come that time to say “Arrivederci Firenze”. This study abroad session has gone by with just the right speed, not too fast and not too slow. Studying abroad for six weeks was just the right amount of time I needed in Italy to get what I wanted to get done.
As far as studies went, my wine class was a wonderful experience! I learned so much to the world of wines, but there is so much more to learn, I have only learned the wines of Italy! The class may sound simple but it’s no walk in the park, there is just so much to take in and comprehend in the cultures of wine.
My Italian has definitely improved here compared to when I just arrived. Speaking only Italian at the dinner table was a definite help and living in an Italian household surely sharpened my skills. It was such a good feeling when you walk into places in town and use only Italian.
Of course on the weekends, everyone must travel and get to see other parts of Italy or even Europe. I made sure every weekend was filled with excursions to keep adventurous side fulfilled. My trips in Italy included Cinque Terre, Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Pompeii, Venice, Padova, Pisa, and Foligno. Outside of Italy I managed to go see Amsterdam and the beautiful country of Croatia! On some of these trips, I even managed to get up with friends from my past who are Italian. They showed me another side of Italy most tourists never get to see.
I absolutely enjoyed my study abroad experience. I met wonderful people, saw many new things, and created fond memories. I highly recommend studying abroad in Florence if anyone is debating. The city is full of rich surprises! I am extrememly blessed to have this opportunity to study abroad and I am very appreciative for all who supported me throughout. Grazie tutti!
