I cannot believe my adventure in Rome ends in less than three weeks! The semester flew by, and I’m scurrying to complete everything on my to-do list. I’ve learned many things while studying abroad, and most of these things I’ve learned outside of the classroom.
I’ve learned how to be independent, how to spend and save money, and I’ve learned how to balance work with play.
I also think I’ve changed as a person by studying abroad in Rome. I haven’t changed into a completely different person, but I’ve enhanced some of my qualities. I’d like to say that by traveling I’ve become more reliable. I can also say I’ve become more knowledgeable about cultures, which has made me a more understanding person.
My semester abroad has also impacted my future. I’ve realized I want to be traveling my whole life, so I need to plan accordingly. I’ve already weeded out some jobs that would limit my ability to travel. My future has also changed because I’ve met some great friends that live all over the United States, and I’ll want to keep in contact with them. Looks like I’ll be traveling around the United States too!
I will most definitely adapt some of the Italian culture at home. I’m going to make gnocchi, eat gelato, walk my dog, and take naps on a daily basis. At this point, I don’t want to leave the city or my new friends. I’m going to miss the beauty of Rome! However, school ending and seeing my friends and family back home sounds pretty good too.
